(Scene opens up in a dark room with two people sitting at a table. one is in darkness and is shining a light at the other one)
Darryl: I’m telling you I didn't do it.
Investigator: So tell me again how this happened.
(flash back to war)
Chorus:
The worst things happen to the best people
do people only believe when they see.
or when they hear a story.
Scene 1:
Fernando: A hundred meters to target!
Darryl: OK we move out in ten.
Fernando: Yes sir.
Darryl: Intel informs us there are civilians at the target, we get them out first then we get the target.
Fernando: How are we going to do this mission when it is only you and me?
Darryl: We sneak in and evac the civilians. Lets go.
(Back to present day)
Chorus:
In war things happen people get hurt others don’t
only time will tell if actions have consequences.
Scene 2:
Investigator: So what happens next?
Darryl: As we came up to the town Fernando said...
(flash back to war)
Fernando: That was one hell of a hike.
Darryl: I know, at least we are here now.
(Fernando and Darryl walk into town)
Darryl: There are civilians in that building over there.
Fernando: I’ll watch the target until you get them out.
Darryl: OK.
(Darryl enters the building)
Darryl: Everyone follow me.
Civilian: Why?
Darryl: You are in danger!
Civilian: Well, I can't argue with that.
(Darryl and civilians run to safety. Darryl returns to Fernando)
Fernando: Are all of the civilians safe?
Darryl: Yes, Has the target moved while I was away?
Fernando: No he is still inside.
Darryl: Paint the target and lets get out of here.
(Fernando takes out a laser designator and shines the laser on the building. A few seconds later, a missile comes out of the sky and hits the building. Cut to scene were helicopter flies away. The building where civilians were kept explodes)
Darryl: No!
(back to present time)
Chorus:
Will people hurt other people to cover their mistakes?
Will they blame it on the insentient to hide themselves.
Scene 3:
Investigator: So if what you are saying is true, you didn't call the airstrike on that building?
Darryl: It’s true! I did not call that airstrike!
Investigator: Well your file says otherwise, and the file never lies.
Darryl: No, I didn't do it! It wasn't me!
Investigator: Well, I guess we're done here.
(Investigator leaves room, The warden walks in and sits down)
Warden: The investigator told me that he didn't believe you, so it looks like you are going to the execution chair tonight at 10:00 pm.
Darryl: (mumbles under his breath) But I didn't do it.
Chorus:
When there is deceit there are casualties.
But there always is.
Scene 4:
(Darryl is strapped into the execution chair. Add sound for Raining outside, set mood)
Darryl: I guess this is it for me.
Guard: It will be quick and painless.
Darryl: Why are you doing this?
Guard: Because if I don't then I lose my job, and I can't support my family if i have no job.
Darryl: You take orders without question. Were you in the military?
Guard: Yes
Darryl: I always respect a fellow soldier.
Guard: I wish you had a choice to live, and maybe prove your innocence.
Darryl: Well this is it, I hope I am an example to everyone.
(Guard injects the drug into Darryl. Darryl in dying breath)
Darryl: I am worthy...
Chorus:
When someone sacrifices themselves for truth someone should see the signs.
